Storytelling through the Hero's Journey
THE HERO’S JOURNEY is a unique archetypal template that originates in the American Mythologist Joseph Campbell's seminal work, 'The Hero with a Thousand Faces'. The Hero's Journey became a blueprint for script writers in Hollywood, but it is also a very useful tool for plotting novels, memoirs or short stories.
The Hero’s Journey can be a deeply personal, a mythic or a fictional writing experience. It is a classic plot structure that appears in many fictional works and it is the underlying structure for many fairy tales and myths across the world. But your own personal story can be mapped to the Hero’s Journey. The structure is cyclical, and reflects the pattern of our own lives. The story ends where it began but you, the hero or the heroine, are transformed
